Quality vs Price

CBD oils have become a hot topic over the past 12 months and it looks set to continue in popularity for the foreseeable future.

So if you are considering buying a CBD oil to supplement your health, what do you need to know before you buy?

The first thing to consider is whether the oil has come from a reputable company. Unfortunately, in a growing market such as this, there will always be some cowboys who will hide behind the guise that they are providing high quality, ethical products at a cheap price. Some of these products have been tested and have turned out to be nothing more than olive oil or a raw extract that has been extracted from hemp with no traceability, using solvents which can leave dangerous residues. Members of the Cannabis/Hemp Trades Association (CTA UK) are all vetted and regulated to high standards. Of course there are some companies who are not members and still provide good quality products.

Extraction processes are an important factor when choosing CBD oil. Most companies use sub critical or super critical CO2 extraction. This is the safest and most effective method of extraction as there are no residues from CO2 and it extracts a full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenoids and flavonoids. This produces thick, black oil which is either sold as a raw paste or it is diluted in a carrier oil for ease of use and accuracy of dosage. Many raw pastes need to be heated in water which can be time consuming and messy. Because pastes are normally sold in a syringe, it can be difficult to dose accurately.

Oils in dropper bottles or sprays are the preferred choice. Many people use these 2 or 3 times a day to supplement their diet. The labelling should clearly state the amount of CBDmg in the bottle and the size of the bottle. It should also state the recommended dosage. Current certificates of analysis (COA’s) should be either available on request or available on the website.

Winterisation is another method of extraction which can be used following the CO2 extractions. This cold extraction method further refines the extract by removing the additional plant materials such as the chlorophyll, fatty acids and lipids. Winterised extracts are extremely clean and pure and are sometimes used for vapourising as there is no danger of lipid pneumonia which can occur if a raw extract is vapourised (NEVER VAPE RAW OILS – THIS CAN BE FATAL!).

Molytor’s ethics are based on four underlying principles: Sustainability, purity, innovation and price.

Sustainability

All of the 5 Molytor oils are derived from European hemp farms where the hemp is grown organically without pesticides, herbicides or insecticides are they are certified Non GM. All of the other ingredients are also organic and Non GM except for the MCT oil which comes from coconuts. The reason these are not certified is because the trees are 50+ years old and so cannot be certified. Hemp is one of the most sustainable crops in the world. Hemp reconditions the soil as it is nitrogen fixing, breaks up the soil pan and brings nutrients up from the sub soil. Hemp is also great for capturing CO2 and there are thought to be around 25,000 commercial uses.

Purity

Many people struggle with the taste of oils produced with raw extracts. Molytor oils are made using winterised extracts to produce a clear, golden coloured oil which tastes more pleasant.

Innovation

Molytor oils are ahead of the game on innovation. To begin with, there are very few companies in the UK who use winterised extracts in their oils. The Molytor Days and Nights are the first oils to have natural, food grade, cannabis free terpene profiles added. The terpenes (the essential oils present in cannabis) are derived from a range of certified Organic and Non-GM herbs, plants and trees and are collated in the exact ratios to produce and exact copy of the terpene profiles of a Cannabis Sativa and a Cannabis Indica species. The Sativa profile helps to energise your system and the Indica helps to relax your system. Finally, the Molytor Hybrid is the first UK Hybrid oil which can be either taken orally or vaped. The Hybrid uses specially manufactured MCT oil which is natural and safe to vape (No VG or PG). This is the perfect oil for those who like to do both or for those who want to add an unflavoured oil to their favourite vape E-liquid.

Price

From the beginning, Molytor’s mission has been to produce innovative, high quality products at a competitive price. We have certainly achieved this. Our new product, the Molytor Access has 330mg (3.3%) of CBD alongside a full spectrum, winterised extract in MCT oil for only £19.50. All of our other oils are extremely competitive on quality Vs price and include free postage and packing for orders over £30.00.

When it comes to supplementing your health, demand quality!
